Nissan Leaf
The motoring industry has reached a new mile stone with the world's first practical electric production car, the Nissan Leaf! Whilst it may not be the most stunning car in the world it is cetainly brings encouragement to the enviromentally friendly table as other manufacturers are sure to follow suit, bringing a wide whole range of zero emission cars to suit most tastes.
The Nissan Leaf offers surprisingly good handling with minimal roll problably due to the weight positioning of this vehicle. It's new generation lithium ion batteries stored under the car's flooring keeping the majority of it's 1500kg to a low level and firmly stuck to the road.
Acceleration of the Leaf is remarkable for an electric motor, matching the average petrol car with 0-60mph in 11.5 secs. It doesn't provide the same top speeds with just 90 mph but then this vehicle hans't been designed for long motorway driving. If you're a urban or city driver then the Nissan leaf is ideal performing at it's best upto 40mph.
Nissan UK will bring it to the dealership next year 2011 and will cost you a little over £23,000. A little pricy but the running cost benefits will soon make your investment worthwhile. The Leaf is exempt from road tax as it is zero emissions but also aviods company car tax for the first five years, not to mension if you drive in London you won't have to pay that annoying congestion charge.
So overall the Nissan Leaf is a great foot forward to a cleaner world and sets a high benchmark for other manufactures. Get a big thumbs up from us!
The Nissan leaf is cetainly an eco friendly motor but it's a very odd shape and not that pleasing to the eye. The Chevrolet Volt is a much better looking electric vehicle that isn't going to stick out like a sore thumb!
